Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 6-4 provides the names and codes that represent the counties of the 50 States, the District of Columbia, and the possessions and freely associated areas of the United States.
The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) was created to replace the SIC system. It has yet to catch on however and SIC codes still remain the industry standard.
